Anaesthetics Class – With Dr Carole Lamond

Sydney Mother & Baby invites our patients to attend the Anesthetics Class with Dr Carole Lamond. 

All classes are held in our Education Suite on level 2 of our building.  Partners are welcome to join you, please let us know if they are attending. Bookings essential, as numbers are limited.

Monthly classes are available, on the 4th Wednesday afternoon of each month. We recommend taking this class from approximately 32 weeks of pregnancy.

This class is appropriate for anyone who is having anaesthesia for their birth (whether caesarian or labour), or is unsure and would like more information on the topic.

Topics will include: 

  • Anaesthesia for Caesarians Sections, including:  The difference between Spinals, Epidurals and Generals
  • Anaesthesia for other obstetrics, such as perineal repair and Instrumental deliveries
  • Complications of Anaesthetics

Dr Carole Lamond
Dr Lamond has served as a Visiting Medical Officer in Anaesthetics at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown for the past 19 years, where she has gained extensive experience in regional anaesthesia, both for obstetrics and orthopaedics. She works 1 day per week providing obstetric anaesthetic care on labour ward and in theatres. Prior to this Dr Lamond spent 6 years in England where she worked at a number of hospitals including St George’s Hospital in London and gained her English fellowship in anaesthesia. She returned to Australia at the end of 1993, and completed the Australian fellowship while working at RPAH going on to become a VMO in 1996.
