Maternity Hospital Admission Update

We have been very pleased and reassured with the flattening of the COVID-19 curve in Australia and particularly NSW. Staying at home and taking all of the recommended precautions is working.

We wanted to update and reassure you of what is currently happening at each of our hospitals in regard to maternity admissions. Please read the information for your hospital carefully, as they each have differences in management.

At each hospital hand washing, hygiene and social distancing are required.

All communal seating areas including patient lounges are closed. Maternity patients will be encouraged to stay in their rooms as much as possible with partner and baby.

Royal Prince Alfred (RPA)

  • Temperature screening at reception with a verbal health check
  • Sticker system for patients and partners to alert their temperature and health check status
  • Partners only in Delivery Suite and for the postnatal stay
  • Partners can come in and out of the hospital over the postnatal stay (sticker system applies)
  • No visiting (family or children)
  • No ordering of food from outside of the hospital (Uber eats etc)
  • Inpatient education resources online and individual baby bathing demonstrations continue
  • Lactation services continue

Mater Private Hospital

  • Temperature screening at reception with a verbal health check
  • Sticker system for patients and partners to alert their temperature and health check status
  • Partners only in Delivery Suite and for the postnatal stay
  • Partners can come in and out of the hospital over the postnatal stay (sticker system applies)
  • No visiting (family or children)
  • No ordering of food from outside of the hospital (Uber eats etc)
  • Room Service continues
  • High Tea continues individually in patient’s rooms
  • Inpatient education resources online and individual baby bathing demonstrations continue
  • Lactation services continue
  • Well baby nursery closed

North Shore Private Hospital (NSPH)

  • Temperature screening at reception with a verbal health check
  • Sticker system for patients and partners to alert their temperature and health check status
  • Partners only in Delivery Suite and for the postnatal stay
  • Partners can come in and out of the hospital over the postnatal stay (sticker system applies)
  • No visiting (family or children)
  • No ordering of food from outside of the hospital (Uber eats etc)
  • Inpatient education resources online and individual baby bathing demonstrations continue
  • Lactation services continue
  • Well baby nursery closed

Prince of Wales Private Hospital (POWP)

  • Temperature screening at reception with a verbal health check
  • Sticker system for patients and partners to alert their temperature and health check status
  • Partners only in Delivery Suite and for the postnatal stay and partners stay for the duration. They cannot come in and out of the hospital
  • No visiting (family or children)
  • No ordering of food from outside of the hospital (Uber eats etc)
  • Inpatient education resources online and individual baby bathing demonstrations continue
  • Lactation services continue
  • Well baby nursery closed
