World Breastfeeding Week is 1st – 7th August annually. Each year, a theme is designated by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action. This year the theme is ‘ Breastfeeding and Work, Let’s make it work”
This is a very relevant theme for our patients, as many of you are professional working women and will continue to be so.
The Royal Australian Airforce leads the way with breastfeeding at work, by becoming the first military organisation in the world to be accredited as a Breastfeeding Friendly workplace. The Australian Breastfeeding Association has made great headway with over 150 organisations now accredited as Breastfeeding Friendly Workplaces.
I am very happy to work with anyone returning to work to develop a plan on how to best manage this. It does require effort, however, it is definitely worth it.
The World Breastfeeding Week page is also a great resource.
