Carmella Baynie has been a guest facilitator, specializing in breathwork, meditation, relaxation,
music therapy and prenatal yoga at Sydney Mother and Baby for the past 4 years.
A Yoga practitioner of over 35 years, Carmella attained her yoga teacher training in South India,
in 2002 and has trained in prenatal yoga under the Integral Yoga for Women system in
Australia. Carmella regularly coaches yoga teacher trainees in Australia in yoga, voice, breath
and meditation.
In 2000 after the birth of her son, Carmella created Baby Breath, and Lullabies, a pre and post
natal breathing, relaxation and meditation CD bestseller with New World Music and Media,
which sold nationally through Baby’s Galore for many years. She is deeply committed to helping
women navigate their way through pregnancy and beyond, by connecting with breath, body and
baby in a beautifully bonding way, a way that is healthy, uplifting and truly encouraging.
Prenatal yoga is about developing strength and connection to the body. It’s about stretching,
unraveling and strengthening the hips, spine, neck and shoulders to assist with carrying an
ever-growing baby in utero. It’s about releasing tension and developing calming techniques. It’s
about moving to keep energy, circulation, warmth and life-force flowing. Learn to deepen
breathing, focus and concentration. Learn the importance of listening to the body, to baby. You
will develop meditation and visualization skills – all these skills can be utilized in every stage
including labor and beyond.
